THE INTERVIEW
Fastidiously attired,
I move like a cat
ready to pounce.
Hollywood haircut,
glamorous glasses,
whitened teeth,
and spit-shined
alligator shoes.
With Carnegie’s
best one-liners,
I make my pitch,
with wisdom
in French, Farsi,
and Hebrew
from the Bible,
and Upanishads,
Krisnamurti,
and a gold braid
of Godel Escher Bach.
The interviewer
bites his nails,
begins to sweat
and mumbles :
An elephant
on my chest,
the widow-maker,
and rolls over dead.
The interview ends.
